My Uni Makeup Storage

Thought I would share with you my makeup collection storage in my uni room. I have the majority of my makeup with me at uni so keep reading to find out how I store it ...

I store my makeup in the pink draws shown in the picture above. I can just about fit all my makeup in the draws but as my collection grows I may need to buy a bigger draw set or find a new way of storing my make up but at the moment this way works for me!

As you can see from the image above I keep different makeup within each different draw. Starting from the bottom I have all my nail varnishes and nail art bits in the bottom draw. In the next draw up I keep all my eye make up including eyeliners, eyeshadows, glitters, and eyelashes. In the top draw I keep all my face and lip products. This includes foundations, blushes, bronzers, lipsticks and lip glosses. Finally the makeup bag on the top is where I keep my current everyday makeup. I sometimes switch this up but its mainly all my go-to/ favourite makeup products.

Thank you for reading!! Think I better start thinking of a new way to store my makeup as my collection grows because these draws are getting pretty full! :)

Mint and Daisy Summer Nails

As it is coming up to summer I wanted to create a summery nail art look so I decided to do daisy flowers over a mint base. If you want to find out how I created the look below keep reading...

What will you need?

In order to create the look similar to mine you will need a mint, white and gold nail varnish. You could alternatively use a yellow nail varnish instead of gold in order to create a brighter look and make the daisy's more effective. You will also need a nail art tool. I did a previous blog post on the nail art tool I have ... I purchased mine from Avon and in this nail art look I used the brush end of the tool.

Step-by-Step Guide

After painting the nails all over with the mint base colour there are two general steps to this nail art look.

Step 1: Once the base is dry, using the brush end of the tool and the white nail varnish, paint on the daisy petals. I used one brush stroke per nail and did two coats of the white in order to achieve a more opaque colour.

Step 2: Once the white petals are dry you can move on to painting on the centre of the flowers. Again I used the brush end of the nail art tool and placed the gold in the corners of my nails in order to create the middle of the flowers.

Hope you enjoyed this look and happy nail painting! :)

Classic Red and Black Make Up Look

I thought I would share with you a make up look I wore the other night when I went out for dinner on my Mum's birthday. Its a really classic look with red lipstick and thick black eye liner on the top and is also really easy to create so if you want to find out more about the products I used to create the look below keep reading...

Face:

For my face make up I just used my normal day-to-day products. These include Rimmel foundation, Collection 2000 concealer, Rimmel bronzer, Collection 2000 blush and Seventeen highlight.

Eyes:

For my eye make up I began by using the MUA heaven and earth palet which I have done a blog post on in the past. I used a light neutral shade all over my lid and a darker brown shade through my crease. I then used a light almost white MUA eye shadow in the tear duct area. I used a white eyeliner in my water line as this really helps to brighten and widen your eye. For the thick black eyeliner I used Avon glimmerstick in black and also a Rimmel liquid eyeliner to create the flick.

Lips:

This look involves using quite a bold red lip stick. In this look I used an Avon colour trend lipstick in the shade Winter Wine. Another red lipstick which I LOVE is the Rimmel by Kate Moss lipstick in the shade 01.

Hope you enjoyed this look! Thank you SO much for reading :)

How to do a Simple Messy High Bun

When I'm having a bad hair day or simply just not in the mood to style my hair and wear it down I love putting it up in a high messy bun which is really on trend at the moment. Keep reading to find out how I create a messy bun like the one shown in the image below ...

What will you need?

In order to create this look you will need a hairband, some hair grips and a comb.

Step by Step Guide ...

Step 1: Begin by tying your hair up in a pony tail. I usually tip my head upside down in order to be able to get my pony tail higher on my head. The higher the pony tail the higher your bun so tie your hair into place wherever you want the centre of your bun to be. After I am happy with where the pony tail is I like to pull small piece of hair out at the side and loosen the hair on the top and side to make it more loose and messy.

Step 2: Next I back comb the whole pony tail. I usually take small sections at a time as shown in the image and using the comb brush up and down the piece of hair. Because my hair is quite thick when it has just been washed and hasn't been straightened I don't back comb my hair too much. The more your back comb the less gaps there will be in your bun.

Step 3: Next I take small sections of the pony tail and fold them under gripping them into place with hair grips. I usually add more grips after I have folded under the whole pony tail as you might need to pull some of the pieces across in order to cover up any gaps you may have in the bun.

Hope you enjoyed this step to step guide of creating this look and lots of look creating this look yourself!! :)

Illamasqua Imperfection Nail Varnish

I was lucky enough to be given two Illamasqua nail varnishes from their 'I'mperfection' collection so I created this nail look below...

I used the Illamasqua I'mperfection nail varnish in the colour 'Fragile' on all my fingers except from my ring finger. I then used 'Freckle' on my ring figure and put a coat of a multicoloured glitter over the top to give it a slight edgy look.

I was really impressed with the Illamasqua nail varnishes!! It only took two coats to achieve the look and I found that the speckles spread really evenly over the nail which makes them easy to use. I also love how there are both bigger and smaller speckles within the nail varnish as I feel it creates a really nice look. They also come in pink ('Scarce'), purple ('Speckle') and green ('Mottle').

Massive thank you to Illamasqua for the nail varnishes !!!

Nail Art Tool

My amazing Mum got me a nail art tool (shown below) from Avon for just £3 ...

With the tool having a brush on one end and a ball on the other, it allows you to create many different nail art looks. I used the ball end of the tool to create the look below. Through the tool taking the style of a pen, it is easy to hold and allows you to add fine details to your nail art. I found the ball really easy to use in order to create the flower pattern on the nails below; much easier than using a toothpick which is what I have always used in the past. As mentioned above the nail art tool is £3 (currently has an introductory price of £1.50) from Avon and can be purchased from an Avon representative or online at:

In order to create this look you will need pink, white and yellow nail varnish, the nail art tool and a piece of paper to put small amount of the nail varnish onto to dip the tool in.
First I painted all my nails in the pink base colour (2 coats), once dry using the ball end of the nail art tool I created the flower petals with the white nail varnish (2-3 flowers on each nail depending on the size), finally using the nail art tool again I added a dot of yellow nail varnish into the centre of each flower. You can add a top coat to the nails if you wish!

Easter Nails

HAPPY EASTER!!! Hope you had a nice Easter weekend :) I thought I would share with you the nail art I created with an Easter theme. The finishing look is shown below, so keep reading if you want to find out how to create this look yourself ...

What will you need?
Nail varnishes in pink, purple, white, green, yellow and black
Toothpick
Piece of paper

How to create the look ...
As with all my looks I started off by painting all my nails a base colour. I painted my little finger nail white, my ring finger nail purple, and the following finer nails pink, yellow and my thumb green.
Once the base coats were dry, I then used a toothpick to add detail to all the nails. Refer to the picture below to create the same designs! The thumb nail cannot be clearly seen in the photographs, however on this nail I painted 3 daisy flowers, similar to the flowers I have created on other nail art looks.
After all nail varnish is dry you may want to add a top coat to prevent the nail varnish chipping.
